Before hearing aids, it was very difficult sometimes when I was working one-to-one with the children within the main classroom situation, to hear their response or hear the child read the words.
I suddenly thought that people might be thinking that I was ignoring them, because I am not turning around and responding to their questions. Or if I was in a busy environment, then I couldn’t really hear what people were saying and join in the conversation. I noticed the adverts for Hidden Hearing, and I thought it sounds ideal and exactly what we want. I will go and see what they recommend and what their advice is, you know take it from there.
But after the hearing aids, it was a marked improvement, partly because I was simply hearing better, but also because I had the type of hearing aids that block out a lot of background sound. One thing I discussed with my audiologist was that I needed something in that one-to-one situation that would block out a lot of sound, so that my one-to-one work and my listening in a one-to-one situation would be a lot better. And that was exactly what I got. It was absolutely brilliant.
